Anri and her father are first encountered at the family restaurant in Westown when Kirito and Asuna have just killed their way through the floorboards to reach her. She greets them, and is happy to see Kirito again after his disappearance but not as happy to see Asuna. Though she is upset that Asuna is still alive, she doesn't hold it against her, as she's glad Kirito is back. She shows Kirito and Asuna to her father's office, and the two of them discuss the situation at hand. Her father reveals that he has been tracking the "Dragon Emperor" for some time, and had been working on a way to seal him in the past. He tells them he has been working on a new method, and that he's able to use one of his own inventions, a "Doppelgoose," to bring Asuna into the real world.
Upon arriving in the real world, however, the Doppelgoose fails to take them near Asuna's location, as she is in an unknown location.
