    Scully is first seen in the episode "The Pink Room", in which she is involved in a car accident that leaves her unconscious and with amnesia. She is found by the FBI and treated by Dr. Kritschgau, who tells her she has suffered a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). He believes it has affected her personality.

    She has been transferred to a full-time medical unit at the FBI Academy where she is shown to be very defensive and suspicious of the people around her. She is initially unwilling to accept Kritschgau's treatment, but he convinces her to undergo hypnosis. Under hypnosis, Scully is able to remember her past and after Dr. Kritschgau finishes his analysis, Scully confirms her memories are true, although she initially does not believe them.
