Jin Jae-Yu started his career as an executive in the advertising industry. He later joined South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) as a civil servant after graduating from Woosuk University.
He, however, resigned from NIS job in 2015 and joined the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae (the official residence of the president) as a senior secretary for security affairs, effectively serving as an aide to President Park Geun-Hye.
Jin Jae-Yu left his position at Cheong Wa Dae in 2017 and joined the presidential office of North Korea's Kim Jong-Un. He served as the chief of staff to the North's leader.
Personal Life
Jin Jae-Yu was introduced to North Korea leader Kim Jong-Un in 2011, when he was still working for the NIS. Kim reportedly asked his driver to pick Jin up at his residence and took him for a drive around Pyongyang. He became an aide to Kim in 2014 and was given the title of "senior secretary for security affairs.
