Landlord personality type is ISTJ, and his household is a lot like mine. When I was working on my diagnosis, I asked Jer to tell me about his household and what he does. His responses were few. He didn’t know much about his household members. He explained that he was the primary decision-maker at home. He didn’t want to share that role with anyone else, because he felt like it wasn’t fair. I understood.
It was really interesting to talk to Jer. He told me I had one of the most common diagnoses, ISTJ, and that he was the primary decision-maker in his household too. He said that the most important part of his life was his family. He would do almost anything to take care of them, even if it meant giving up his own needs and desires sometimes.
I asked Jer why he wanted to take care of his family so much. He said, “Because my family is my life. I don’t want to have to worry about them.” I told Jer that it wasn’t healthy to care more about others than yourself, but he disagreed with me.
