One of the things that makes me a little bit apprehensive about writing about this book is the fact that my personal dislike of the word "entrepreneur" seems to have affected my opinion of this book. From the very beginning, I was very critical of the way that the author, Thomas Friedman, describes his own entrepreneurial journey. He calls himself an "entrepreneur," and in turn he calls several other "entrepreneurs" in his book. There's nothing wrong with the word itself, but I was very critical of how he uses it in this book. He seems to use it as a synonym for "business person" or "self-made millionaire." He often compares himself to other "entrepreneurs," and it doesn't feel like a compliment.
By no means do I think that there's anything wrong with being an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is a very noble pursuit. However, in his zeal to give himself a good nickname for his own career path, Friedman misuses the word and makes it seem like all entrepreneurs are lazy and self-centered.
