Timmy's childhood was full of painful experiences, such as being caught in an automatic door at a mall while his mother was shopping. After that, he never trusted another automatic door. Later, his mother and her boyfriend, Chuck, moved to South Park after Timmy's father (Timmy's "Papa") left them. Soon after, they moved into a trailer home, which caused Timmy to have a fear of moving into houses with wood floors.
Because Timmy is a very sensitive person, he would often cry when he was upset or was hurt. When he was young, he was traumatized by his father leaving them. His father would abuse alcohol and drugs and often verbally and physically mistreated Timmy and his mother. This led to Timmy becoming a misanthrope, or someone who hates humanity, as well as a pacifist.
Timmy dislikes his "Papa", who had a negative effect on him as a child. He usually feels very angry at his parents for leaving him when he was little and living in poverty with his mother's boyfriend.
