I have a unique problem that I am about to share with you, but first let me tell you about myself.
I am a new mom, but I didn't plan to be one — I was sick for the first few weeks of my pregnancy and ended up with a very high-risk pregnancy. My daughter was born two weeks early and when she made it, the doctors said there was a significant chance that she would not make it. She was listless and not breathing on her own and had to be put on a respirator.
They gave her a 50/50 shot of staying alive and I was so terrified I thought I could see her going to heaven. I had never been in such a place and didn't know if I could live through it.
But my daughter did make it through and was finally breathing on her own, but still wasn't talking much. (It took me months to find out what she sounded like!)
I'm sharing my story because it helped me understand my children and how important it is to listen to them.
