The most important of these is that she is not a savior, nor is she a martyr. She is a woman who wants to find the truth and does it her way through the different stages of her character development. She starts out as a pragmatic and calculating person, and she only becomes more so as the story progresses. After the choice of whether or not to shoot her father, you can see her start to show her inner moral compass. It's not "good" or "bad", it's just right—and in the end, she doesn't kill her father after all, despite the fact that she could have.
What makes this decision so interesting is that it is not one of life or death nor is it selfishness. Rather, it is self-preservation. She sees the greater good of the Commonwealth in this decision, even if she doesn't agree with everyone else's opinion about it. She cares about her people, but she doesn't want them to die because of her actions or lack thereof.
