Itsuki Kiriyama personality type is ISTJ, and her Myers-Briggs type indicator is INTJ. According to MBTI, she is most likely to be an Intellectual. A whole lot of these movies and TOS alumni (including Mark Lenard and George Takei) have said they were fans of the show as kids, and Kirk and Uhura were ~people~ to them. I don't know, but I'll bet the original series wasn't as good as we remember it now. The Next Generation, as a whole, is my favorite, but as with all things Star Trek, I'm not sure how it holds up as a series. The Next Generation was, in general, a better show than TOS, but that's not saying that TOS is bad; it's just not as good.
