Aja Tarron was a young and in-demand performer in the New York nightclub scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She appeared in numerous nightclubs in New York and in Las Vegas where she performed in various shows, including "Lido de Paris" and the "Cabaret".
She also performed in a number of short-lived TV shows, including "The Lost Girls of Bourbon Street", "The Last Night of the Proms", and "The Late Night Show with David Letterman".
In 1982, she opened a small bistro with her mother in the Coney Island neighborhood of Brooklyn. She was also working as a food writer for "Cooking Light" magazine. Aja was very involved in the local community, serving on the advisory board to the Coney Island Community Center where she worked with foster children.
Aja was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 29. She went through several rounds of chemotherapy, but died on March 5, 1986, at age 32. At the time of her death she had been working on her autobiography.
