As I've written elsewhere, INFJ is a step away from INTJ and a step back from INTP. The INFJ is the rarest of the rare in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator's 16 personality types (there are 16 MBTI personality types). Infj is the second-rarest MBTI personality type, after those who identify as having an "interior" form of autism. Only 1% of the population and 10% of those with autism identify as INFJ.
The INFP can be called the most common of the rare MBTI types, but that doesn't mean they're not a bit unusual, or at least different from each other. They're probably more like a group of rare species of creature than like one distinct type of person. Some people might think of them as one type, but I see them more like a family group.
INFPs are not the most common type on the MBTI scale – INFJs are – but they're still quite common. About 4% of the population identifies as INFP and 8% identify as INFJ.
