Caranthir is a concept from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Caranthir is a member of the House of Bëor, a Noldorin Elf who survived the Fall of Gondolin. At the end of the First Age, he led a company of Bëorians north of the Ered Wethrin as “Scouts of the North”, with the task of exploring Lothlórien, and in doing so they identified the Carrock, an important landmark in Northern Beleriand. Caranthir’s company was ambushed by Orcs under Thuringwethil, and Caranthir was slain.
