    The Elves of Middle-earth

J.R.R. Tolkien was a professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford University for 35 years, and he was very interested in Anglo-Saxon literature and language. He was particularly influenced by Beowulf, The Wanderer and The Seafarer, which is about a wandering hero named Beowulf and how he defeats a dragon and becomes king.

Tolkien began writing The Hobbit in 1914 and The Lord of the Rings in 1925. He began writing The Silmarillion in 1937, which was later abandoned. Tolkien died in 1973, but the work of creating Middle-earth continued with his son, Christopher Tolkien, who finished writing The Silmarillion in 1977.

The elves of Tolkien’s world are an important part of Middle-earth, but they are not portrayed as evil creatures who are trying to take over the world. They are described as very beautiful, creative, intelligent beings who can see into the future, but they are also very curious about the world around them.

Finrod Felagund is a fictional character in the fantasy-world Middle-earth of the English author J. R. R. Tolkien. He is a Noldorin Elf, the eldest son of Finarfin and Eärwen of Alqualondë in Aman. He appears in The Silmarillion, the epic poem The Lay of Leithian and the Grey Annals, as well as other material. He is the king of Nargothrond in the First Age of Middle-earth prior to his death. The lineage of the character and his descendants underwent a number of changes in between Tolkien's posthumous publications; some of them were editorial decisions made by his son Christopher Tolkien who continued to curate his father's unfinished work. The character's role has been analysed by Tolkien scholars.
