The best way to interpret these results is to realize that the authors of the study had the option to use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which is a personality test with a vast array of indicators. In total there are 16 different indicators. For those of you who don't understand how personality tests work, here is a brief explanation:
The MBTI identifies the person's dominant type. It's a bit complicated, but that's a topic for another day. The MBTI also identifies the person's secondary preferences. These are personal preferences that do not have a direct relationship to the dominant type. They're just sort of things that people do. For example, my MBTI personality type is ENFP. In addition to my dominant type of ENFP, I also have two secondary preferences: Visionary and Artistic.
The MBTI is a great tool for understanding personality type preferences. The problem with this particular study is that the MBTI doesn't provide a very powerful insight into one's personality.
