In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon , actor and comedian Nick Swardson joked that the "JJ" nickname was actually a nod to the fact that Fisher was the only member of the cast who didn't appear in the first installment of the movie franchise, which began in 1989.
"You guys know that in the first movie, E.T. comes down to Earth and he's, like, an invisible man?" Swardson said. "I'm like, 'Oh, my God! That's my favorite character!'"
But it's not just jokes. Actor John Krasinski admitted that, because Fisher is so shy, he never realized what an inspiration he was to so many people until after his death.
"He was such a good guy with such a big heart that I was never aware of how big of an effect he had on people," Krasinski told Jimmy Fallon .
