As part of the project, the researchers have been conducting surveys among children and adolescents, and have found that the average age of illness onset is around 12. In the past 10 years, the number of children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with ISFJ personality type has increased by 50 percent.
Most of the children and adolescents in Turkey who have been diagnosed with ISFJ personality type belong to a family. This suggests that the problem is a family problem.
“We think that there is a family problem,” said Prof. Büyükakın. “There is a family character. It is not a psychological or psychiatric problem. The characteristics of this personality type are problematic because the mother is overprotective and over-controlling. In our studies, we have seen that mothers with this personality type are more controlling than mothers without the ISFJ personality type.”
