Schaffa personality type is ISTJ, or the “Protector.” ISTJs are responsible, practical, and dependable. They are the “doers” of the world, taking care of the details and making sure everything is running smoothly. This can be a positive trait for an office administrator – keeping the office running smoothly, for example – but it can also be bad when it comes to handling conflict and negative criticism.
They take criticism very personally. It can easily trigger them to lash out defensively with criticism of their own. An ISTJ will frequently take the blame for other people’s mistakes instead of taking the time to clearly explain what happened and why. They believe that if they can keep the other person from making more mistakes, then everything will be fine. Never mind that this isn’t always possible!
This trait can also work against an ISTJ’s own decisions. If they think they are right, they often stay on that course and refuse to admit they may have made a mistake. Even if they see a mistake as soon as they make it, they will often hold onto that mistake as a means to avoid admitting failure or having to make another change.
