While in camp, Stanley befriends a group of misfit teens, which include his nemesis Nathaniel "Spelunker" Barris.

    In the book, Stanley's mother wants to take him to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist gives Stanley a riddle that he must solve to get out of camp. This is the riddle that Stanley had to solve:

    "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

    The answer is: To get to the other side.

    The riddle is actually a metaphor for life itself. Life is not easy for everyone and many people have to figure out how to get through it.

    The movie had some changes to the plot.
