He has a way of accepting people as they are, and that works to his benefit – he’s a good medic and a good teacher, but he’s also not a very good soldier. So, he can live a peaceful life, but he can also serve his country.
Nim is a very quiet person, and it’s interesting to see him as a bit of a martyr. He doesn’t talk much, but when he does, it’s always to protect those around him. He may not seem like the most capable person, but he’s actually one of the strongest characters in the novel. He’s kind of the person that should have been the commander of the unit, but he gave up that position to protect his friends.
