In the anime, Haruto is a 16-year-old high school student who doesn’t seem to be able to get along with anybody. He wears glasses and has a lot of trouble reading people. He also has a tendency to write things down and draw pictures to express his feelings.
Haruto is introduced as he and his best friend, Yukio Azuma, attempt to cheer up Jun Hasegawa, who is thinking about quitting model competition because she feels that her life is boring and she’s just getting by because she’s good at modeling. Haruto tells her that she’s attractive and that if she really wants to be beautiful, then she should use her looks and not let them go to waste and become a model. He also says that he has a lot of confidence in her and that he hopes she will continue modeling.
Haruto goes on to tell her that while she’s not the most beautiful person he’s ever seen, she has a good personality and should be proud of herself.
