Sam is a loyal member of the Winchesters' team, but he is clearly more of a 'doer' than an 'experiencer' and he often falls into the 'thinker' trap of trying to find a logical explanation for what's going on rather than accepting the situation at face value. This is more pronounced in Season 1, but it becomes even more pronounced in Season 5 when Sam starts to get more involved in the hunt for Lucifer and the demons. He becomes even more of a 'thinker' when he starts trying to figure out how to proceed with the plan and how to handle its outcome and he is often at odds with Dean for that reason.
