"I thought it was unnecessary violence on the part of police officers, especially against somebody who was unarmed," Lawrence said. "It was very confusing."
He then saw the news about Eric Garner, the Staten Island man who died after being placed in a chokehold by police officers. "It was more of a racial issue," Lawrence said. "I thought, 'How can this happen? It's not right.'"
