Yan Wushi personality type is ENTP, a rarer type among Chinese women.
The stereotype that Chinese women are submissive and conformist is a common one, but the presence of outspoken Wushis in Hong Kong is a sign that stereotypes need not apply.
“I don’t find the stereotype of Chinese women to be true at all,” says Li Chi-ling, a Hong Kong-based Wushi with an INTP personality type. “I think it’s a good thing to see more outspoken people like me. It is very positive.”
Some Wushis say they face discrimination from their Chinese and Taiwanese counterparts and that the stereotype of the “confused and submissive woman” is not far from the truth.
“I feel that I am discriminated against because I am a Wushi,” explains Wen Cheng-yu, a Wushi with an ESFJ personality type. “I feel like all Chinese women are expected to be submissive and quiet. But I like to talk and express my views, and I like to make my own decisions. I do not think there is any discrimination against me.”
