My parents didn’t want to put me into any kind of special education classes, like learning disabled or mentally retarded. But they knew I had some problems. They didn’t think it was something they could cure. But they knew it was something that needed to be addressed.
I remember my parents saying, “We’ll get you special education help.” That made me really mad.
“You mean I’m stupid?”
And that’s how it started, because I couldn’t understand why they were making fun of me all the time.
My parents tried to have me tested for ADD/ADHD, but they weren’t diagnosed with it either. It turned out the problems weren’t physical.
