Noah personality type is ISFJ, and he’s a high-functioning introvert and extrovert. But his tendency, when under stress, is to withdraw. He was the last one to leave the house on our vacation, and the first one to return after the storm passed. He’s just not a very social person.
“The reason is that he’s so in touch with his emotions that he can’t really interact with people unless he’s calm. So he’ll just be quiet, withdrawn, and stay at home for a week without talking to anybody. Then he can function, but he has to be alone.
“Some people who work at the same company for 20 years will not know each other. But Noah and I met when we were in our mid-40s, so we’ve known each other for almost 30 years!”
ISTPs can be very private people. They want their own space and freedom, and for them to be able to do what they want in their free time, whether it’s making furniture or hiking or playing with their dog.
