Lucy Barker is a fictional character that appears in some versions of the story Sweeney Todd. Lucy is the husband of the Sweeney Todd character, however Todd was sentenced to imprisonment by Judge Turpin so the latter could rape Lucy. Because of this, Lucy poisons herself. Years later, Todd returns to London and his neighbor, Mrs. Lovett lied to him, saying she was dead so he would love her. He later finds Lucy as a Beggar Woman; not recognizing her he slits her throat but then kills Mrs. Lovett for what she did. Lucy appears in the play Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and the subsequent film adaptation. In the film, the character is portrayed by Laura Michelle Kelly and in the play she is played by multiple actors, most notably Merle Louise, who won an Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical award from Drama Desk Award for her portrayal.
