In the work of Carl Jung, Carl Jung found this problem in a very different discipline. In studying the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious mind he found that it was not a simple matter of a conscious mind and an unconscious mind. He found that there is a vast underworld of the unconscious mind, a vast reservoir of instinctual information, and that what we call our conscious mind is only a thin veneer over the basic instincts.
In his book “Man and His Symbols” Carl Jung said, “The unconscious mind contains the whole of the past history of the individual, from his earliest childhood up to the present time, and from this history his symptoms, symptoms from which he has now suffered, are derived.
