I have a similar understanding of the concept of "personality type" but I think it is a little different. I think that Jungian traits are a part of the personality, not a whole. So a person's personality can be a combination of a few different traits, or a few different personalities. For instance, my father is an ENTJ and at the same time is a Te system thinker, which is an Ni-Si-Te system thinker. In other words, my dad is a system thinker at heart, but he is also a Ni-Si-Te system thinker.
The same is true for all traits. For instance, ENTPs are Ti-Ne-Ti system thinkers. If you have a system thinker for each "type" then you have a system thinker for each "trait".
So what then is a "personality type" if the trait isn't a whole? Well, think of the Myers-Briggs as a way to describe those combinations of "traits" that make up an individual.
