In his younger years Sekou Bunch was a shy and introverted kid who never had much confidence as a teenager. He spent a lot of time as a child reading books and drawing pictures, as well as spending a lot of time with his father who he learned a lot from. His father was a truck driver, and his mother worked for a cleaning service. They were both heavy smokers.
His first encounter with a girl was when he first entered high school. Though he had a crush on a girl throughout high school, he never acted on it until he entered college. During this time, he had to take a leadership role in an organization that he helped start for his fraternity.
At college, Sekou Bunch got involved with the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He joined the fraternity partly because he wanted to meet girls. However, he was discouraged by the fact that the fraternity only admitted young black men. After graduating college, Sekou Bunch joined the US Army and served in Desert Storm. He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife. They would eventually have three kids together.
