ISTPs are what I call the ‘mystery host’ of the Myers-Briggs personality type system, because they are so good at keeping things hidden. In the world of the ISTP, everyone wears a mask. The ISTP doesn’t tell people exactly what they are thinking and feeling, because to do so would be to give up on their own secret identity.
If you are an ISTP, you may not realize that people don’t always understand what you are thinking and feeling, or why you are behaving the way you do. It is often very easy for people to misunderstand an ISTP.
ISTPs are generally very good at adapting to new situations, and usually make good leaders. They are also very good at finding their way around in the world, but often struggle with being able to accurately interpret people’s behavior and motives.
