Magnemite personality type is ISTJ, so you'd be very much like an old, established type. You'd want to keep things the same and not mess with the status quo for the sake of change. You'd be hesitant to try anything new until you had a pretty good idea of how it would work out and what kind of risks you'd run into. There aren't any big risks, or at least none that you can see right now.
As you said, the only real risk is that the other type might get triggered, and that's a risk to everyone, not just them. I think you should give them a chance, though. If they can't take the risk, they'll have to find a way around it.
