Poliwrath debuted in The Fire-Lion Pokémon Showcase!, under the ownership of Ash's rival, Paul. It battled against Ash's Snorlax and lost. It reappeared in A Poached Ego!, where it was Paul's main battling Pokémon. In the following episode, it battled against Ash's Weavile and won. Later, it was seen training with a Seadra in A HipHop Evolution. It was also used in the following episode during a Gym battle against Ash where Poliwrath helped Weavile defeat his Torkoal. In the following episode, Poliwrath and Weavile were used in a Gym battle against Paul where they easily defeated his own Nidoking and Nidoqueen before losing to his Rhydon. It reappeared in a flashback in The Fires of a Red-Hot Reunion! and The Battle Finale of Legend!.
Poliwrath is a Water/Fighting type Pokémon introduced in Generation 1. It is known as the "Tadpole Pokémon". An adept swimmer at both the front crawl and breast stroke. Easily overtakes the best human swimmers. Swims powerfully using all the muscles in its body. It can even overtake champion swimmers.
