Marill debuted in The Wacky Watcher!, under the ownership of the Wigglytuff sisters. In the episode, Marill helped Team Rocket steal Pokémon from the sisters for their own selfish gain and was not thrilled about Wigglytuff being used in their schemes. She and Wigglytuff also met Ash, who wanted to capture all of them.
Marill is a Water/Fairy type Pokémon introduced in Generation 2. It is known as the "Aqua Mouse Pokémon". The tip of its tail, which contains oil that is lighter than water, lets it swim without drowning. The end of its tail serves as a buoy that keeps it from drowning, even in a vicious current. The fur on its body naturally repels water. It can stay dry, even when it plays in the water.
