Carla personality type is ESFP, and my boyfriend is an ENTP.
The thing that made me most anxious about this relationship was the role of the parent in the relationship. In my opinion, it’s all about the partnership, not the parent-child dynamic. I have no issue with a parent being involved in a romantic relationship with their child. However, I have a problem with a parent being so involved that they are essentially an additional significant other. The ENTP is outspoken, confident, and independent. The ESFP, on the other hand, is quiet, highly dependent, and submissive.
As an ENTP, I’m used to assertive women. When your partner is like your mom, it’s hard to know how to act. The ESFP’s submissive nature made me anxious that I’d be forced into playing the role of the submissive partner. And I’m not submissive by nature! I prefer to be in control of my relationships, like my boyfriend.
This anxiety was so intense that it resulted in me ignoring my other relationships for years. I was so focused on the relationship with the ENTP that I neglected my other romantic relationships.
