Dan personality type is ISTP, but I can see how it can be argued that ISTP is a better fit for that type.
In my opinion, MBTI is a very good tool for self-discovery and understanding oneself, but it shouldn't be taken as gospel. I'm not saying that ISTP types don't have the ability to learn about their type, but I believe that there is a much deeper level of understanding between types than the mere letters can reveal.
I would also like to point out that I have several friends in the ISTP spectrum, and as a friend, they're all very different from each other.
This is why I find it somewhat foolish to classify people into a more general "type" because it doesn't show them in their true colors.
For example, I have several friends who are ISTP's, and one of them is extremely extroverted and the other is extremely introverted. However, none of these traits apply to all ISTP's.
I think it's just too general, and too limiting.
I think it's dangerous because it can lead to a person being "dumbed down" if they don't understand their type.
