In John, Nathanael is a "monk" (Greek: ναθάναι; Hebrew: נתנאל) who searches for Jesus after Jesus has told him that he would be known as a prophet (1:49), and in Luke, the apostle Philip finds Nathanael after Jesus has taken a journey.
