Katherine is the one of the few characters who is seemingly unchanged from the book. In the book, Katherine notices Lizzie's behavior and asks her to sit down and talk with her about it, but in the movie, she comes across as a bit more rigid and disapproving. She is a supportive friend throughout the film, but she has a tendency to talk about things in a way that makes it seem like she's being negative or overly critical.
In the movie, Lizzie does have a friendship with another girl, but it's not as drastic as in the book. In the book, Lizzie develops a friendship with another girl named Charlotte, but in the movie, they form a similar friendship but it's not as intense or as big of a deal as it is in the story.
