Jonathan Ariga personality type is INTJ, and in his case, it's an INTJ-INTP. He spent the last decade in the game industry. He started off in game marketing, went into journalism, and then moved into game development. He's written for Gamasutra, Rock, Paper, Shotgun, RPGFan, and Wired Japan. His biggest journalism achievement is when he quit his job at Kotaku to become a full-time game developer after leaving the industry.
I was lucky enough to get to interview him during GDC 2014, and I got to ask him about his career, what he's working on now, and what he thinks about the game industry.
What was your first game? What was your first game project?
I started off in game marketing. I was in charge of advertising for Everquest at Sony Online Entertainment. It was my first paid job in the industry. I used to hang out with the guys who were in charge of marketing for Everquest. They were the top ad guys at Sony Online Entertainment, so after I started getting into that industry I was able to meet them.
When I was making my first game at Sony, I was five years old.
