Susanna Leijten was an officer in the Human Starfleet. She had reached the rank of lieutenant commander.
In the 2360s, Lieutenant Leijten served on the USS Victory. It was during this time that she became close friends with Geordi La Forge while he served there, calling him his "little brother".
In 2367, Leijten learned that three of her former crewmates had disappeared. and shortly after she began to suffer a mutation, the same one that affected the other members of the expedition.
Once recovered, she manages to convince Laforge (who had also undergone this transformation) to accompany her and return to the Enterprise.
