A character like this tends to be one of the first people to come to mind when it comes to the image of the typical kind-hearted man. You have people like Goofy or Bambi, who are so kind, so loving, so dutiful, so hard-working, so earnest, so… I don’t know. It just seems like they’re always “on the right path” or trying to do the “right thing.” I have a hard time thinking of someone who would be that “good,” if you know what I mean.
But what I think the author wants to show is that even though these people are considered “good guys” or are loved by many, they are still people who are flawed. They are still capable of being selfish or cowardly or inconsiderate, or even evil.
