I have no doubt that it plays an important role in the MBTI, but I have often wondered to what degree it plays a role. Would I have been a more effective practitioner of MBTI if I had been a more self-aware INFJ? Or would I have been better off as an INFP? Who knows? What is for certain is that I would have been less frustrated with the MBTI than I was as an INFP.I think I may be starting to understand why people consider the MBTI to be such a flawed and incomplete tool. It is because the MBTI is not really a tool for measuring and understanding types. It is an attempt to measure and understand people who use the same tool as everyone else.
