The INFJ personality type is the rarest of the 16 Myers-Briggs personality types. The INFJ personality type is a rare and enduring personality type, making up less than 1% of the population. The INFJ personality type is able to be recognized by its “finely tuned” and “highly developed perception which allows them to perceive things that others may miss.” (Myers & Briggs, 1998) The INFJ personality type is usually characterized by introversion and intuitive thinking. They tend to be quiet and reserved, but their intense emotions, empathic nature, and strong ability to focus on their thoughts can often make people mistake them for extroverts. INFJs’ unusual introversion and intuition make them see the world as a complex puzzle of patterns where everything will eventually be explained if you’re persistent enough. They have strong feelings of compassion and empathy for others, but they also have a tendency to get frustrated with people who don’t seem to understand how important it is for them to express themselves. Their unique personalities often make them feel like outsiders in most social situations, including workplaces.
