It's one thing to be on stage and share who you are, but when it becomes about the performance and not the person, it’s time to reevaluate and take a look. This is also something that can happen in our relationships with friends and family. People can become so used to how we present ourselves that they become a part of the presentation, rather than a part of our development. There was a time when I was just coming out of my shell and really exploring who I was as a person. My close friends were very supportive and let me be who I wanted to be, but one day I went to a party with a guy I had been hanging out with a lot. Everyone knew each other, so we all got a little comfortable with each other. During the party I was talking to this guy and telling him how much he meant to me. We ended up going upstairs to go talk in private. We sat down on the couch and started talking about my business and what I’m working on.
