Project description: The novel, The Kite Runner, was written in 2003 and is a memoir of the author's childhood in Afghanistan. It was made into a movie in 2007 and won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. The story is about a boy named Amir and how he deals with the horrors of war and his father's betrayal. The book has been critically acclaimed and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award in 2003 and 2007 respectively.
As you can see from the portrait, Khaled is a very quiet person, just looking at him you wouldn't think that he is a visionary author. He is not the type to jump up and down and shout “Eureka!” when he has a great idea for a book. He has a take-it-as-it-is attitude, which makes him doubly qualified to write about Amir.
