David Usher personality type is INFJ, but I know well enough to be wary when one of these types tries to tell me that they are INFJ. They are usually trying to get in my pants, in which case they are not INFJ, they are an INFP. So to avoid any confusion, let me be clear about how I use the INFJ to INFP schema. It is a very useful tool for understanding the complexity of the INFJ-INFP relationship for both individuals and for therapists.
We can see starting with the Ni side of the INFJ, the same considerations that would be made by an INFP trying to understand the INFJ. INFJs are introverted, intuitive, and feelers. They enjoy being alone and hunkered down in their thought process. They need time to think and explore their inner world, often spending time alone in their private fantasy world. INFJs are unique among the Myers Briggs types in that they are what I call “intellectual feelers”. INFPs, INTPs, ISTPs, ESTJs, ESFJs, etc., all act on their Fe preferences, but they also act on their Ni preferences. INFJs act on both sides of their personality.
