I was born shortly before my father died, which meant I spent almost my first 5 years alone with my mother on the farm (a plot of land on the outskirts of Kyzyl). We were not rich but we were happy and we had everything we needed. My mother was a very hardworking woman and was strict, but she was always warm and very kind.
