Trey - Ernest Joseph Anastasio III is an American guitarist. When he was younger, he set out to use his knowledge and musical talent to combine different styles of American music in both compositional and improvisational form, not only for his own projects, but also with his band, Phish.
Throughout the late 80s and early 90s, instead of trying to create hit singles, he and his band toured relentlessly and allowed anyone to tape all of their shows, which helped spread their name around in the live music community. Their shows consisted of a blending of genres, surrealist lyrics, and fearless group improvisation. They soon found themselves performing in arenas such as Madison Square Garden soon after, and revolutionized the music festival with their first 5 festivals in the late 90s. This would then set the stage for festivals such as Bonnaroo, unbeknownst to most who attend them. Anastasio has since then continued touring with Phish, as well as his own band which is named after him.
