Lee Canham, together with Alan Pownall, founded the duo Pale. They play spare, moody alternative electronic music - critics likened their sound to Depeche Mode, described as unsettling, serious and 80s synth greats Tears for Fears.
In 2014 they released the EP The Come Back, and in 2018 the debut Pale.
His alternative project is named LEEE.
Before their album release, Lee and Alan were living at Alan’s parents’ place, making music in a garden shed. The duo state themselves as polar opposites: while Lee is quiet and confident, Alan is loud and insecure.
Lee, whose mother had bipolar disorder and gave him up for adoption after she “burnt down a few houses by accident”, comes from a very different background than Alan. In foster care until he was eight, he was adopted and his life became more settled. But while Lee came from a council estate, parts of his childhood echoed Alan’s.
