Merrill Garbus personality type is ENFP, and I'm an ENFP (also known as Least Likely To) and we hit it off like two peas in a pod. She offers a lot of insight into the world of female artists and the music industry. We both come from New York and we both love cats.
We got the chance to talk about her upcoming album (due out on October 28), her work with The New Pornographers, and some of her favorite artists (including the late Elliott Smith).
How did you get involved in music?
I started playing guitar when I was about seven or eight, and my dad and I would write and practice and I was really into guitar and you know, he made me play. And I was pretty good, and I had a lot of fun with it and I really liked playing with other people and some of the music we made. And we'd go to some of the local shows and I would play with these guys and it was really fun.
