Updike personality type is INTJ, not INTJ or INTJX. Intuitive-Thinking-Judging types are essentially the same as Thinking-Judging types (they’re both Judging types), but Intuitive-Thinking-Judging types are more comfortable with their inner mental lives. They can be very emotionally expressive, especially in their writings, and they tend to be highly creative and imaginative.
